As advanced western supplied weapons arrived in Ukraine on Friday, Ukraine’s military spokesperson told reporters Ukrainian troops had hit and destroyed 30 Russian military logistics hubs deep behind the frontline, significantly reducing Russian troops’ offensive capabilities.
Oleksandr Motuzianyk praised the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMSARS) and other modern weapons his country is receiving from its western partners to enable Ukraine to fight back against the Russians.
On national television, Motuzianyk said, “in the last week, over 30 of the enemy logistics facilities have been destroyed; as a result, the attaching potential of the Russian forces has been significantly reduced.
As some western policymakers are beginning to question whether weapons supplied to Ukraine are making any significant impact in the war, if Mr. Motuzianyk’s comment is confirmed, this will end that argument and show that there has been a change in the battle since Russia’s invasion last February.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine last February, the Russian military has gained ground in eastern and southern Ukraine due partly to the Kremlin troops’ use of artillery power.
On Thursday, a top general in the Ukrainian military said Ukrainian strikes were disrupting Russia’s military effort and indicated that Russian troops had made no territorial gains in Ukraine for the past week.
Without saying which countries had provided Ukraine with the HIMARS and other weapons, Ukraine’s Defense Minister said that his government had received the first consignment of the M270 multiple rocket launch system, something President Volodymyr Zenlensky has pleaded with his western partners for since the beginning of the war.
Unlike the HIMARS, which has a more extended range and is precision-guided, and in giving the Ukrainian military to hit Russian positions that were previously beyond their reach, Ukraine soviet make artillery were incapable of targeting hit hitting Russian military infrastructure and logistics.
The supply of these modernized western weapons to Ukraine has not gone well with Moscow. On Thursday, Russia had some harsh words for the United States and the U.K for helping train Ukraine’s military, calling it a NATO “hybrid warfare” against Russia. Moreover, Russia claimed that the United States was also sending American trainers to assist Ukraine in how to use the HIMARS.
In the past week, Ukraine has reported that its forces have struck Russian military infrastructure in Russian- occupied territory located far behind the frontlines in southern Ukraine.
Since the start of Putin’s” “special military operation,” Ukraine has accused Russian forces of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, something Russia has repeatedly denied. In his national television appearance, Motuzianyk indicated that 30% of Russian strikes were on military targets, while the rest targeted innocent and armless civilians.
